The already shaky friendship between Eric (Will Friedle) and Jack (Matthew Lawrence) is further damaged when the boys become managers of the Pennbrook Student Union. The main problem is that good-hearted Eric has a bad habit of giving away the Union's profits whenever he hears a sob story--something that the coldly businesslike Jack can neither understand nor tolerate (at least until episode's end!)
