When Will (Will Smith) and Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro) refuse to pay rent for their pool-house apartment because of a faulty air conditioner, Philip (James Avery) surprises them both by slapping them with a lawsuit. Of course, Philip merely wants to teach the guys a lesson, but the situation spirals out of control when the case gets all the way to court. As the judge listens in amazed (and amused) bewilderment, three different versions of the events leading up to the lawsuit are told, "Rashomon" style (Phil's version transforms Will and Carlton into gang-bangers, while their interpretation paints Phil as a Jurassic-style monster!) ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
