IMHO better than Armageddon, but that doesn't say much. It was watchable, if you over look the low budget they had to work with...the acting was adequate. My husband and I rented 3 movies at the same time....Black Snake Moan, Earthstorm (this one), & Premonition.........this movie (Earthstorm) was the best of the 3. We wouldn't watch it again, though.

Bad acting, dialogue could have been written by teenagers, the effects were laughable & lame, & the science was implausible & inconsistent even to a lay person with no more than a public middle school science background. One minute the space shuttle is dodging through an asteroid field like a fighter jet would through the sky, & later it is hovering over the moon like a harrier jump jet. And they completely ignored the fact that there is no gravity in space, as shuttle crew is running around just as they would on earth. That's just 2 examples out of many obvious inconsistencies. They tried to cash in on the Armageddon type of movie on an extremely low budget, while still trying to follow the formula. The overall premise was slightly original, in that the trouble was the moon breaking up after a massive asteroid impact, which would end in the total breakup of the moon itself, if not for the efforts of our courageous blue collar hero. But the final product is sophomoric at best.

What was the budget on this one? If it was more than $5k they out did themselves. Good acting and a very good plot but no follow thru. Moon gets hit good science, not far fetched but needed a budget to get the point across.
