A dying Colorado town is caught in the middle of a bloody right-of-way battle between two railroads. A man claiming to be the agent of one of the railroads hires Paladin (Richard Boone) to rid the town of the hired gunfighters who have overrun the area. Soon, however, Paladin finds that he has accepted a job under false pretenses--and in the end, it is up to him to determine who is the real "villain" of the piece.
