Please don't consider this movie educational. Ed Gein (albeit a horrible murderer) was not portrayed in a correct light. He wasn't a vicious mean spirited person (not to defend a serial killer) he was quiet, shy, and neighbors even let him babysit. If you want to see a decent movie about him, there's another film titled "ED GEIN"

I stopped watching this film half way through. It was just terrible! Boring, contrived subplots. A complete lack of the pathos seen in Norman Bates, Buffalo Bill, or Steve Railsback's portrayal of Ed Gein. A movie doesn't have to be historically accurate, but the true story of Ed Gein is so much more interesting than this third-rate melodrama that was completely made up for no good reason! Ed Gein as portrayed by Kane Hooder is a cartoon sadist. The attempts to show the trauma inflicted on him by his mother are just weak excercises in recycled style. And this movie wanted to be stylish, but it even screwed that up. Fortunately, there is a better film of this story. 2001's Ed Gein told the story efficiently, and offered a few real chills as we watched a sick man not in control of himself. Steve Railsback, who played Ed Gein that time, was already famous for memorably portraying another famous serial killer: Charles Manson. His Ed had pathos. His film is the one to see. Avoid this mess.

This movie was so horrible! Kane Hodder the guy who played Jason from Friday the 13th is way to big to play Ed Gein who wasn't a big guy. This movie did a poor job depicting the real Ed Gein. The production of this movie also looked like they were trying to make a cheap Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie, which was based on events from Ed Gein; however so was the character Norman Bates from the film Psycho, which you didn’t see much of the weird mommas boy Ed Gein really was in this movie. The film also looked like it was filmed with a hand held video camera.
