The Zombie Diaries (2006)
Member Rating:
The world is in the grip of a viral pandemic that causes the dead to reanimate and feast on the flesh of the living, and as three groups of survivors attempt to document their survival on video for posterity, their numbers quickly begin to dwindle. In the early days of the 21st Century, a variant of the Avian Flu known as "Omega strand" began spreading across the globe with unprecedented speed. Though the virus has a nearly 100% mortality rate, it's victims appear to defy death by rising up and staggering through the streets in search of nourishment that only human flesh can provide. Will these desperate survivors make it to safety and live to share their tales of survival with future generations, or will their video document remain an unviewed document of the zombie apocalypse, destined to gather dirt until getting crushed under the rotting feet of the undead masses. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I am a huge horror fan. Yes, I knew going into this, that it was low budget, and there would be lots of hand held camera movement. Unfortunately, the biggest problem with this film: too much camera movement. In scenes which involved two characters, for instance, the camera constantly moved from left to right, and zoomed in and out, from one character to the next. That said, I will touch on the plot. No, it's not original, but a movie about a group of people trying to survive in an apocalyptic world filled with zombies, had the potential to be mesmerizing. With the use of excellent, creepy music, and several nighttime scenes, the movie was at least, atmospheric. Unfortunately, the film takes a wild turn during its last ten minutes, and literally just ends abruptly. In summary, there are two big flaws: 1) Too much camera movement. 2) Abrupt, anticlimactic ending.

My 11 year old could kill these zombies. They don't run, they are slow, and they aren't constantly biting like your typical zombie. How these idiots managed to get killed by these things is beyond me. The movie touched on ONE scary point- that was when one seemingly normal person turned on other people and started to exploit the situation by raping women and killing other survivors. Other than that...there was nothing scary about this film. Zombie fans will definitely be disappointed with this one.
