The Slumber Party Massacre (1982)
Member Rating:
Feminist film director Amy Jones and feminist novelist Rita Mae Brown collaborated on this by-the-numbers slasher gorefest, alleviated somewhat by desultory attempts at developing the victims as characters. The film concerns an overnight slumber party, attended by a group of nubile young women, who find themselves harassed by a gaggle of over-sexed young men. Their sexual escapades are punctured by the intrusion of an insane killer wielding a power drill. But the women rule the day when the lone survivor of the killer's hydraulic drill bands together with her sister and a neighbor to form their own posse and hunt down the murderer. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

Shower Scene. Awsome. Man weilding phallus to kill teenage girls. Awsome. Cheesey slasher flick done to perfection. Pure delightful awsomeness. If you're even a slight fan of the genre rent this. And if you're not, if you're a chick who can't imagine putting this on your queue, do it anyway because it's packed with feminist imagery, right down to the killers death and the ultimate fate of his drill. A fun film for all.

I passed on this movie for years (mainly for the cheesy title and cover) but finally decided to give it a shot and really enjoyed it a lot more than expected. For an early 80's slasher, it was done surprisingly well. Sure, it does have its faults, but overall, it was an extremely fun slasher flick with some good directing and a lot of memorable moments. For us horror fans, this is great entertainment.

Yeah it's cheesey, insults your intalligence, and just down right makes you laugh at times but what else could you ask for in an early 80's drive in slasher film. The Slumber Party Massacare delivers everything a classic screamer should; lots of blood, dead teenagers, hot girls, and killer that just won't die. The movie is short (only one hour and fifteen minutes) but action packed with many memorable and gory scenes. If you are a horror movie buff you'll love this one.
