A Time to Remember (2003)
Member Rating:
As the "black sheep" of her wealthy family, struggling artist and single mother Britt Calhoun (Dana Delany) is reluctant to return home for the Thanksgiving holiday. Finally persuaded to do so, Britt finds that her imperious mother Maggie (Doris Roberts) is still more concerned about "what people will think" than what people may be like inside. Even so, Britt is determined to mend fences with Maggie, if for no other reason than to convince the father of her child that she can lead a stable home life. But a dark cloud hangs over the Yuletide proceedings: Maggie is in the first stages of Alzheimer's, and it may never be possible to stage a reconciliation. Agree entirely with the first review. Didn't exactly finish with any understanding. Dana played a horrible daughter and even worst girlfriend.

This was a Hallmark 'Made-for-TV' movie. The frequent "station break fade-outs" made that really obvious. EXTREMELY disappointing in virtually every way. Didn't connect with any of the characters at all throughout the film. Right up to the end I really just didn't care about any of them or their hollow storyline. There were about 5 semi-redeeming minutes near the end but that's not enough to carry any movie, is it... My father developed Alzheimer's about 3 years before he died and it was nothing at all like portrayed here. Maybe other people have had different experiences, who knows... Whatever - a total WASTE of my time in any case.
