It's a dark film for the most part, but then, it was 1843, and the film was made in 1935. You'll notice things missing that appear in other versions. The lead plays a very good Scrooge. The special effects were worthy of 1935. No "God bless us every one," but that's one of the differences. Not as good as the 1953 version, but a good version, nonetheless. Worth seeing.

We have been watching all the Scrooge's and 'A Christmas Carol', and Seymore Hicks is the BEST scrooge! And Bob Cratchit was perfect.
