Seldom have I seen a film where the integrity of a man (Hugh O'Flaherty) was so carefully examined, tested, and proved. Not only is the film well-made entertainment, it is a beautiful portrait of a man who never once wavered in his convictions, or succumbed to "practicality". Gregory Peck at his best since Atticus Finch.

This is an INTENSE movie,! Worth every second. Great actors, the late Sir John Gielgud, late Gregory Peck and Christopher Plummer (aka Capt. Von Trapp) . It came out about the time of "E.T." Go figure. Easily 5 stars! If you have ever been to the Vatican/ Rome the scenery will make this come alive, as it should since it is based on true story.
