It's interesting to watch this sympathetic-to-the-Russians movie made before the collapse of the Soviet Union. But the contrived plot, contrived romance, stilted acting, and pre-adolescent profanity made it a yawner. Peter Billingsley doesn't get the chance to shine here as he did in "A Christmas Story."
