This lovely and funny movie is marred at the end by the violent death of the otter (the actual death occurs off-screen, but you see the farmer plunge his shovel down to where you know the otter is). My nine-year-old daughter was in tears and is still talking about it. I found the scene disturbing myself.

A very interesting story of a man realizing another level of beauty and purpose in his life. A friendship with an otter moves this this man from urban dwelling to country living, from egocentric pretender to grateful doer. A heart warming and heart wrenching journey that makes the price of admission a bargain.

No special effects or excitement, just a nice story with beautiful scenery. If you enjoyed Born Free, Flipper, Gentle Ben etc you will like this movie too.
