Square Pegs follows the hilarious misadventures of Patty (Sarah Jessica Parker, TV's Sex and the City) and Lauren (Amy Linker), two freshmen girls desperate to fit in at Weemawee High School. Befriended by oddball characters Marshall (John Femia), a budding comedian, and Johnny Slash (Merritt Butrick), a wacky new-waver, Patty and Lauren still hope to impress the popular kids: valley girl Jennifer (Tracy Nelson), her tough boyfriend Vinnie (Jon Caliri), and their sassy friend LaDonna (Claudette Wells). And it would "behoove us" to not forget Muffy (Jami Gertz), the ever-peppy preppie!

I really loved this show as a kid. I can't believe it isn't in the library here yet. Hopefully soon. This, in my opinion, was the first teen show ever!!! I loved it!

Although seeing this sitcom now seems a little camp, but at the time, this was ground-breaking stuff. These characters went on the be classics and have been stereotyped ever since. "...like, ya know...". This was probably the first sitcom to poke fun at the nerds vs cool kids and the need to be accepted by your piers in high school. A few of these actors went on to major careers after this gig, like Sarah, Jami, and Tracy (Rick Nelson's daughter). It is worth renting even if it is just to see the origin of "...like, whatever..."

This is an average teen sitcom. But it is nice to see http://www.blockbuster.com/catalog/personDetails/48573 Sarah Jessica Parker as a kid, before she became bimbo.
