This is one of the best movies I've seen out of China that wasn't an epic, period drama. It might be best categorized as an intrigue film that places story and style on equal levels. The acting, directing, cinematography, writing, special effects and sound were excellent. The film includes awesome wide shots, an outstanding soundtrack, a warm color scheme and an unexpected ending. Rene Liu's character manages to add a sense of calmness to offset Andy Lau's usual, in your face, overacting. And this is probably Li Bingbing's best work to date. The only negative was that most of the actors appeared to have been dubbed in Mandarin. The 5.1 DTS audio option made excellent use of surround sound. As for extras, there's a trailer for the movie, a "Deleted Scenes" feature (8:58 min) containing six scenes, a "The Making of Featurettes" feature (7:15 min), a video "Photo Gallery" (3:27 min) and trailers for four other Tartan movies. Absolutely recommended.

One of the better chinese movies I have seen in a long time. This is a far better movie than the usual dog doo doo (chinese and HK movies) that are being release these days.

I find the movies coming out of China now pretty mediocre, but this one is the exception. Feng has a cinematic style that keeps you in suspense through the whole movie. Of course, it helps to have Andy Lau and his ensemble cast to make the movie interesting, and all of them were perfectly casted. A classic movie in every regard, verdict: Highly Recommended
