Looking for special editions of When a Killer Calls?
Okay this Movie does not have a budget and the acting is okay. BUT let me tell you it's 200% better then the remake of when a Stranger calls. I really enjoyed this movie!! Actually explained to me why this guy was stalking the Baby Sitter!! A MUST SEE!! If you are a true horror Fan!
WARNING - - this is a MOCKBUSTER put out by THE ASYLUM. This video is a knock off both in title or theme or both. They do no original or quality work. There is commonality in all of THE ASYLUM films however - - none of them are worth watching - - BAD PLOT / BAD SCRIPT / BAD ACTING / BAD AUDIO BACKGROUND / BAD AUDIO RECORDING / BAD CGI / BAD VIDEO SPLICING - - - just BAD, BAD, BAD. The only entertainment value you will likely find is a competition with others to see who can count the most mistakes or the most cheesy lines, stolen sound effects and poor imagry. Unfortunately, this video rental company doesn't warn us of crappy videos - - I think they are more interested in inflating their video selection count for comparisons to their competition. I have seen a few reviewers provide relatively high ratings on some of the Asylum videos - - I can only conclude they are either high on something, or have a financial interest in luring more gullible viewers in. You've been warned!
Like the other reviewers have already stated, this movie is a blatant ripoff of "When a Stranger Calls". That having been said, this movie wasn't as bad as I thought it might be considering the budget and so-so acting. Yeah, it's predictable as far as plot points, but the kills are kind of vicious at times and the body count is surprisingly high. You also feel sorry for the what the babysitter and especially her boyfriend have to go through-let's just say that the killer is pretty twisted. And (like reviewer Cher said) the killer actually has a motive for his killing spree instead of being just a nameless, faceless nutjob, a detail which I appreciated.
