In 2005, music producer Hal Wilner staged an all-star tribute concert in Australia in which a handful of major artists offered their interpretations of Cohen's songs, including Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker of Pulp, Rufus Wainwright, Beth Orton, Kate and Anna Mcgarrigle, and many more. This is must see if you love movies about legends such as Leonard Cohen. The performances of Leonard Cohen's music by Canadian performers was new to me and I enjoyed everyone immensely. Comments from Bono and U2 were inciteful, beautiful and spiritual. Leonard Cohen is a rare poet of our time. Again, if you are a Leonard Cohen fan, it is a must see! Sarah D.

The film started a bit slowly, but by the end I was so moved by the beauty of the man and his music as well as by the performances of musicians I generally don't have the opportunity to see. A fine tribute to Leonard Cohen, whose music I have always loved.

This is a deeply flawed movie honoring the creative genius of Leonard Cohan. The film suffers from some weak performances, especially on the part of the male singers, with the notable exception of Rufus Wainwright. Towards the end there is one lovely duet by a pair of talented female singers that is a real stand-out in the movie. The director has used far too many glorified close-ups. The Cohen interview clips are generally interesting, but the balance of the film, with too many marginal performances, drags considerably. Cohen poetry is great, but his singing is very unmusical and monotonal. The band is good, but there are far too many tunes featuring heavily tranquilized tempos with the singers often degenerating into distracting affectations. It would have been a great movie if several famous singers had covered a dozen of Cohen's best songs. Even though Leonard Cohen deserves this attention, this film was a huge disappointment.
