Member Rating:
Old friendship falls prey to new tensions as a group of childhood friends come together for a weekend hunt, but find themselves torn apart by rising tensions and unexpected guests, in this drama from cinematographer-turned-director Thom Best. It's been years since Vaughn and his old buddies have come together for a little male bonding, and when the opportunity for a laid back winter weekend at the family cabin arises, the childhood chums set about packing their bags. The carefree old days have given way to the stress and competition of adulthood, and when new rivalries form and long-buried secrets give way to sexual tensions, the kettle begins to boil and tensions begin to flare. When a knock on the cabin door signals the arrival of some surprising guests, the relaxing weekend retreat becomes a dire struggle to salvage what little is left of the group's tenuous friendship. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I honestly liked the casting of this movie. All guys that I've seen in other films at one point or another. Their individual acting abilities is another story. This movie pretty much has an overbearing brother story laced with alcohol amongst childhood friends who pretty much arent sure if they even like eachother anymore. And then there's the gay friend that pretty much fondles the "straight" self hating friend in bed one night. This really isnt a gay themed movie except for 2-3 scenes of mostly a poor gay guy trying to convince a childhood crush that he's gay. It's slow at most turns, but if you like the woods, a frozen lake, and manly men drinking...This is for you

This film's best facet is its unpredictable story line. The actors do well portraying complex, flawed men who remain loyal to, and put up with, each other despite the character deficits they find. This isn't your basic feel-good buddy movie. The ending is abrupt, uneven, and rather unsatisfying. Still, you'll find the movie enjoyable if your expectations aren't too high.

Lots of eye candy. Lots of drama. Kind of a "Lifetime" movie of the week deal. I would watch it on a rainy night.
