Mars is Earth's closest planetary neighbor, and for decades scientists have been curious about the so-called "Red Planet," wondering if it's possible that life exists there, how its soil and terrain differs from our own, and if water can be found. While sending a manned space mission to Mars has been considered beyond the reach of America's space program, in 2001 the National Aeronautics and Space Administration approved a mission to send two "rovers" to Mars -- wheeled robots that would send images and data back to Earth. A two-year crash program resulted in two robotic rovers (dubbed "Spirit" and "Opportunity") being sent to Mars, which have given scientists and researchers on Earth a brand new vision of what the planet is really like. Roving Mars is a documentary which offers a detailed look at the people behind the Mars rover program, how the machines were built and what they can do, and what has been learned since they reached their target. Roving Mars was shot and originally exhibited in the high-definition IMAX film format. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I will start off with the fact that the movie was too short in my opinion; however, the graphics and content about the mission to Mars was incredible. The detail seen in the movie is quite impressive on a HDTV. Roving Mars also provided an interesting synopsis to what went into the project as well as the elation exeperienced by NASA sceintists. You can feel the excitement of this momentous event. I highly recommend the movie.

you can't argue that it's too short, but the movie will make you feel like george lucas is there there filming it. the detail in the animation and the way they show you the landings and the design behind everything - it puts it all together so very well. the times we live in we can take for granted at the achievements we've gained. to help understand this, roving mars is simply fantastic and i'm getting my friends school onto blu ray just to see this movie to help THEM put things together. oh, and how in the holy heck is it the movies fault the samsung 1400 is junk?

An incredible documentary on an infinitely more incredible accomplishment. I just wish it was a little longer... an hour just wasn't enough. Oh yeah... and you have to get it in Blu-Ray. This is one title that needs to be seen in high-def. (Blu-Ray player not included)
