Lazarus (Samuel L. Jackson) is a hard-living ex-blues guitarist for whom the troubled days are beginning to outnumber the good. Rae (Christina Ricci) is a 22-year-old sex addict whose wild ways are finally about to catch up with her. When Lazarus discovers Rae covered in dust and clinging to life on the side of the road, he takes her in and nurses her back to health; but Lazarus isn't your typical caregiver, he's more concerned for Rae's immortal soul than he is for her physical well-being. Now, after chaining Rae down and employing the power of the Good Book to curb the salacious seductress' hedonistic ways, Lazarus will be forced to confront his own darkest demons in order to save the soul of a woman whose one-way ticket to hell has already been paid in full. A semi-nude Christina Ricci plays the role of a wild little boozer and young nympho to boot. A kindly middle aged black man (Samuel Jackson) decides to keep her from her evil ways and proceeds by chaining her up in his house which causes quite a stir in the bi-racial community[l Hungry for more sexual depravity and strongly thirsting for more liquor, Cristina Ricci tries to brake out of Jackson's residence. Jackson's friend's tell him that it is not wise for a black man to keep a young white girl chained up in his house. A simply delightful movie that is a true joy to watch! I wish there were more movies like this coming out of Hollywood other than the usual trash! Highly recommend! A couple of good blues songs are included and perforrmed by Jackson.

A superbly written, brilliantly acted and frequently surprising film that is by turns sexy, shocking and ultimately moving. A Must-See

I was pleasantly surprised by how well the movie came together. I found it very enjoyable and unique. When renting it I really had no idea what it was about and the title kind of threw me, but after watching it I would highly recommend it for people who can appreciate a good film and look past the inuendos and language
