Sweet little made-for-TV movie about the real-life gay high-schooler who sued in order to take his male date to the prom, PROM QUEEN: THE MARC HALL STORY is generally better than most of America's network-made-for-TV movies--probably just because it's Canadian. (Civil rights do seem to matter a bit more up north, particularly these days.) Simple and a little paint-by-numbers, the film is still well acted enough that you may just find yourself amused and moved in equal, if rather small, parts. Aaron Ashmore is adorable in the lead role, and the music is good, too.

This is a really cute movie. It brings out the kid in all of us, and I recommend that every gay person see it. It's very encouraging to all of us, and we all should take this type of action very seriously.
