Having been a fan of Love Story, I found this movie to be very dissapointing. You can get in a few good cries from his mentions of Jenny, but that's where the enjoyment ends.

Although clearly not equal to the famous Love Story, this movie is a worthwhile movie to watch.

If you were a fan of Love Story, then you have to watch this sequel no matter what the critics have said about it. More than likely, Oliver's Story would have been better received, if it had been done within a couple of years of Love Story. Especially since, they probably would have been able to recruit more of the original supporting cast. Luckily, Ray Milland was still available to play the role of Oliver's father. The film opens with Jenny's funeral. The movie is about the grieving process that Oliver is going through and his struggles with trying to start a new relationship. I think Ryan O'Neal gives a heartwarming and realistic performance.
