This is a Hong Kong romantic comedy about an unemployed detective (Lau Ching-Wan) who takes the job of bodyguard for a rich businessman's overly entitled daughter (Gigi Leung). The father doesn't believe his daughter knows the value of money and decides to teach her a lesson by tricking her into living in poverty. For the detective to perform his duty, he passes himself off as a foreign cab driver where he follows the daughter as her ever faithful servant. How many times must we be subjected to a Lau Ching-Wan movie where he's paired with a young woman almost 30 years his junior ? There's nothing romantic or funny in this romantic comedy. The target audience is mostly likely adolescents as only they can tolerate the whininess of Gigi Leung's character. The subtitles suffered from so many continuous grammatical and spelling errors as to make the dialogue nearly incomprehensible. The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio option made moderate use of surround sound. There are no extras. Not recommended.
