There are about 15 minutes of film clips of Piaf here that make the hour-long disc worth watching. Other than that it's very dated and insubstantial, with a wooden voice-over translation.

Whatever happened to subtitles? The dubbing/voice-over ruined this otherwise good documentary. I gave it two stars just because they did not try to translate the songs as well...

I had purchased this DVD a long time after Marion had won the best actress award for her performance in it. I purchased it by accident and did not view it for a long time after that. I was not disappointed!! Wonderful performance, truly poignant love story, although not carried through enough, and very informative about the edges of Edith's life. Must See DVD. I am emcouraged by this film to delve more into the life of Edith Piat's live because of this film. I want to know more about why the "Little Sparrow" sang.
