In the first episode of Smallville's two-part season-two finale, Clark (Tom Welling) finally works up the nerve to kiss Lana (Kristin Kreuk) -- only to be distracted by a perplexing message from beyond. The message, consisting of the words "The Day Is Coming," has also been received by Dr. Walden (Rob La Belle), a mentally unbalanced linguist.
