You must first understand that this film is 100% scripture! You could take your bible and read along with what is going on in this film. So its not a directors take on what Jesus might have said or done. Beautifully shot with lavish colors and actors, yet this film holds true to what the Gospel of John is all about. As a minister I use this film to educate those who may not like to read. It gets them interested in more of Jesus. I wish this director would make more films. God bless

I only watched the three hour theatrical version of this movie, so I can’t speak about the other DVD. That said, I loved this movie. It was made well, but, more importantly it stayed extremely accurate to the written Gospel of John of the Bible. Although I appreciate some other biblical theatrical releases. As a believer I’m not always enthusiastic about particular producers’ interpretation of the written word; this is a reenactment you can literally have faith in. This rendition is not overly graphic, so it something the whole family can watch. To someone that has never been exposed the account of Jesus Christ, from the perspective of one of the first-hand witnesses, I would highly recommend this movie. After watching this movie with our family, my youngest son told me he understood that Jesus died on the cross for his sins and believed he had risen again from the dead.
