This episode of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda marks the first appearance of the New Commonwealth, whose minions are pursuing crew members Dylan (Kevin Sorbo) and Harpe (Gordon Michael Woolvett) on a murder charge. Meanwhile, the rest of the Andromeda crew seeks out the owner of the Shards of Rimni, a rare Old Commonwealth artifact that can control the will of whomever possesses it.
