Vin Diesel returns as the nocturnally gifted antihero Riddick in this sequel to the 2000 cult item Pitch Black. Riddick, on the run from the law and evading mercenaries eager to claim the price on his head, seeks refuge on the planet of Helion, only to discover he's walked into a world in chaos. Helion has been seized by the Lord Marshall (Colm Feore), leader of the Necromongers, a race of bloodthirsty warriors determined to wipe out humanity throughout the universe. Aereon (Judi Dench), leader of Helion's "elementals," pleads with Riddick to join them in their fight for survival; Riddick agrees, hoping to fill out some of the blank chapters in his history along the way. This movie has all the science fiction elements that you want in a good sci-fi flick. What makes it worth seeing is that is goes beyond the norm of what recent science fiction movies have been and introduces a unique concept, plot, and art design. While the movie could have used a little more explanation into the history of Vin Diesel's character as well as the necromongers' characters- you really don't need that explanation to enjoy the flick. Remember this flick was meant to be part of a trilogy (one I hope will be finished). You get to experience Diesel's char. torn between remaining an outlaw (what he's comfortable with) or becoming a legend (something he's unsure he can handle)- an answer that partially is revealed in the wonderful ending......

This is the second or third time I have seen this movie. It was well done and great to watch. Vin Diesel was a good fit for this role as he was in Pitch Black. I would watch more movies about the Cronicles fo Riddick.

A good sequel Atleast director David Twohy took the story in a different direction instead of staying with the same story line.
