This movie is somewhat different in that the action sequences are performed through spell-casting and wizardry. Surprisingly, the action choreography is very interesting and original, with incantations being used to deceive and destroy enemies at close range. Seimei is very likeable in his cool-headedness and skill. The final confrontation between the young wizard and villain is classic.

Weak plot and storyline with side plots that just seem to be more annoying and interferes with the main plot The special effects are somewhat cheesy and the movie drags on and on, making you hope that it will end soon, so you can go on with the rest of your life. It's kinda like the medieval times with King Arthur and Merlin, but set in feudal Japan with Ministers and a master wizard named, Senmei. The climax of the movie finds the soldier guards transformed into the enemy warlock's demons with a phony looking mask on their heads. Like I said, very cheesy and fanciful, but not very impressive. There is also this dopey guy named Hiromasa that tries very hard, but is very misguided and just doesn't have it all there. All in all, I wouldn't bother if I were you.

This is more fantasy than adventure or horror. I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't blown away.
