This movie began on the right foot. I thought I had found one of those "diamond in the dust" films, but it turned out to be muddied cubic zerconium. The cast of many under-rated actors made a worthy effort of trying to move the movie along. Although there were some funny parts, the whole story is rather dull and never really takes off. LeBeouf's intellectual, sarcastic character showed potential of some sort of coming-of-age story but stoped before really making sense. The movie was far too short to achieve what it should have.

I went in not knowing what to expect but was pleasantly surprised! The movie is full of first-rate banter and some very likable protagonists. My only issue I think might be an editing issue. That is to say that people respond to Labeouf's character at times as if he were hateful and selfish but in the movie he comes off likeable and witty (leaving me to wonder if the film makers choose to edit out his flaws). Because of this you get a cute movie who's ending doesn't flow with the rest of the film. The movie is definetly worth a watch though. The banter doesn't come off as pretencious and Shia Labeouf is a curly-haired cutie pie who delievers it effortlessly. He also carries the movie. The only other memorable performance is by Ray Wise who is unfortunately only in it for a matter of minutes but lights up the screen for that brief time.
