I love French films, however even if you do not like subtitles this is a must as there are few. Lovely story between young and older age and what can be learned by each.

A charming little film from France. It's more along the lines of a made for tv film - something we would have on the Hallmark channel here in the states, but none the less I enjoyed. An older gentleman who is somewhat of a loner heads to the country to collect butterflies which is his hobby and passion and finds that an 8 yr old neighbor girl who is emotionally neglected by her young single mother has stowed away in his car. The two of them set out for adventures in the country where he teaches her about butterflies as well as life, death and those things in between.

This is why we love French films. The relationship between Julien and Elsa is lyrical; Elsa, the charming child, and Julien, the old curmudgeon, come to love and respect each other under very unlikely circu*mstances. The forest scenery is beautiful; the dialogue enchanting. As pure and simple and lovely as a film can be. A pure delight.
