Episode Two of Foyle's War is set in May of 1940. It seemlessly weaves the politics of England during WWII, the tragedy of Dunkirk, anti-Semitism, with a murder mystery. Thrown into the mix is the introduction of Detective Sergeant Paul Milner's wife Jane and the trouble brewing with his adjustment to life as an amputee. As before, there are many suspects and Detective Chief Superintendent Foyle skillfully sorts it out at the end. I, of course, had no idea who the murderer was. My husband, a history buff, hates when I pause to ask a question about the historical aspects of this series. They make an interesting addition to the wonderful writing of the show.
