Underappreciated, even unknown, movie. Marooned was released in the U.S. market 4 months after the first Moon landing. By then, the jaded American public had already grown bored with space; hence, the movie bombed in the cinemas. Columbia quickly sold the rights to Marooned to a subsidiary studio; the movie was renamed "Space Travelers." The acting was superb - as one would expect given the talented cast. Gregory Peck, David Janssen, Lee Grant, Mariette Hartley, James Franciscus, Gene Hackman, and Richard Crenna, all give solid performances. The plot has been criticized by contemporary audiences as "slow-paced." But then, modern American audiences are used to non-stop action and more-and-more spectacular special effects. Real quality is more appropriately savored, not slammed like a shot of cheap tequila. Recommended for historical space buffs - the same folks who would enjoy "Apollo 13" and the HBO miniseries, "From the Earth to the Moon."

It's an interesting story that is a little too often slow moving, a lot of it due to the unnecessary two plus hour length. Fine cast, the acting is good. Very well produced and the special effects are great.

Great cast but too slow moving. Just one of may of the disaster movies during this time frame. Although they made a commendable effort to be realistic, it fell short of its target.
