I'm not much of a Diana Ross fan. I always wondered what the big hoopla was about her from the Supremes and when she went solo, but in this movie she is a genuinely GOOD actress. I never knew. Now I see why Berry Gordy cast her in this and Lady Sings the Blues. Great to watch if you have never seen it before. Abrupt ending though. Good enough for first time entertainment.

This film was released in 1975, and I can still remember lines around the corner to to see it. Diana is as usaul, enchanting, dispite a weak script. But the movie doesn't dissapoint and the Oscar-nominated theme song was a solid number one hit. An entertaining movie

Diana Ross is miscast, and rather badly at that. She is too old to be playing a hot new model, nor does she have the acting range for the role. Poorly structured and not at all convincing. The first half is far better than the second. Great theme song
