Religious fanatic Thomas Tilford (David Ogden Stiers) has made it his mission in life to stage-manage the Second Coming. To this end, Rev. Tilford uses DNA from the Shroud of Turin to fashion a human embryo, which is promptly implanted in the uterus of young Marie Wells (Samantha Mathis).
