    This is a solid movie. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is one of the finest actors today. Kathy Bates is good and so is the entire supporting cast. The best aspect of the movie is how it's so terribly depressing, yet it's able to pull off some legitimately funny scenes. I recommend for anyone who can enjoy a powerful tearjerker and not feel like movies have to always end in tidy, happy resolutions.

    My favorite parts of the movie is where Hoffman didn't say a word. He just let his expressions say everything. Not many actors could have pulled off that performance.

    This is my no means an easy film to watch. Philip Seymour Hoffman portrays a grieving widower, who in his dysfunctional depression turns ti sniffing glue, gasoline, and just about anything that is readily available. This is not an uplifting Drama by any stretch of the imagination. The fact of the matter is if you’re not depressed when you begin to watch this movie, you maybe after watching this overwhelming morbid cinematic trite, The movie bombards your senses, and at times just seems ridiculous. Case in point, two neighborhood children, and I do mean children just walk into his home and ask Hoffman for some glue to sniff. He sone becomes their supplier. The movie asks more questions then it answers. What becomes of Hoffman, You just out in an hour and a half and you never find out how things work out for Hoffman? I think you are better severed by renting “The 25th Hour” which has a great cast and a great plot
