Frasier [TV Series] (1993)
Member Rating:
(Kelsey Grammer) stars as psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane, the former Cheers bar patron who moved from Boston to Seattle in order to host an advice talk show at KACL, a local radio station. Frasier, already twice divorced, was looking forward to a peaceful existence in his beautifully furnished apartment. However, he quickly found himself playing host to his ex-cop father and his eccentric personal home-care provider, Daphne (Jane Leeves). Frasier, his neurotic brother, Niles (David Hyde Pierce), Daphne, and jaded radio show producer Roz (Peri Gilpin), became great friends over the eleven-season span of the show, despite a wide spectrum of personal differences. During season one, the writers packed the episodes with Frasier's various insecurities, and introduced a cast of gifted performers who would help the series win a total of 30 Emmy awards, including three for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and two for Outstanding Lead Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Though Kelsey Grammer had been familiar with Dr. Frasier Crane for many years, the supporting cast played an invaluable part in developing his character as well as their own roles. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi
