Oh was this bad. We picked it up for our horse-loving daughter...Mickey Rooney, girls and horses, should be good. Not only was the film low quality, the story was so poorly written. The dialog couldn't have been worse. The drama couldn't have been more hokey. And the music was the same piano tune played over and over except when it was put to words and very badly sung. Even our 6-year-old said it was bad. One more warning if you think you want to go ahead and try it anyway, there is some mild language that was inappropriate for young children. Stick with the classic horse movies!

Slow beginning, little action, good for girls who are in beginning equestrian jumping. Safe for the family to watch.

Okay, this movie is not good. Comments in other reviews about the poor plot, dialogue, film quality, obvious use of several different horses...all true. However, it's Mickey Rooney, a horse and an underdog kid, which is always a charming combination. It's no worse than The Black Stallion television series with Mickey Rooney and Richard Cox. If you want Cinema, this isn't it. Go rent National Velvet or The Black Stallion based on the novel by Walter Farley and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Personally, I liked the movie well enough and if you're a fan of the genre or if you're a horse crazy 'tween girl, it's enjoyable enough.
