This short-lived TV series was a spin-off of the popular 1989 miniseries of the same name. The characters are based on those in the novel (also titled Lonesome Dove) by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Larry McMurtry. The Western follows the dramatic adventures and misadventures of young Texas Ranger Newt Dobbs, played by Scott Bairstow.
