Das Verlorene Tal (Lost Valley) is based on the best-selling novel of the same name. Set in the German Alps, the plot focuses on a naïve young girl (Marie Louise Claudius) who is left all alone when her sweetheart (Mathias Weisman) is called away on business. Not long afterward, the girl succumbs to the seductive charms of a city slicker (Olaf Bach). The results are disastrous, resulting in guilt, renunciations, recriminations, and at least one suicide.
