Quest for the Lost City (1954)

Quest for the Lost City (1954)
This 64-minute documentary was a fascinating chunk of personal promotion for explorers/self-preservationists Dana and Ginger Lamb. The film consists of the Lambs' journey into the land of the ancient Mayans, somewhere along the Mexico-Guatemala border. Without assistants or equipment, the Lambs made the 2000-mile trek with only the barest provisions, living in the wilderness like 17th-century explorers and surviving to tell about it. The Lambs' accomplishments are much more impressive than the film itself, which is amateurishly photographed and edited. Quest for the Lost City was distributed by RKO Radio on behalf of Sol Lesser Productions. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
