Synopsis of In Harm's Way

Director Jan Krawitz creates a personal memoir about coming to terms with her experience of sexual assault and her consequent opinion of an American societal worldview that was formed in the 1950s. Krawitz dips into her generation's collective past to examine the values and assumptions instilled in children of the 1950s, and the conflicting "truths" that she came to realize through an experience of random sexual violence. Elaine Charnov of Margaret Mead Film calls it "a haunting and evocative visual poem. Krawitz breaks through the personal and cultural silences that are forced upon us all."
