"Hideo Nakata's Chaos" starts off kind of slow. It is a kidnapping gone bad. Then there is a twist, then another, then another. It has a good story but the production quality is very plain. Still, it is worth watching if you have the patience.

One could wonder that the movie's plot twists were designed so that you had to return to the theater more than once to understand what happened. Sort of like when you saw "The Matrix" for the first time. To help you avoid watching this movie twice, here are some non-spoiler tips. One, the storyline moves forward and backward in time without notice to you. Two, notice the husband's hand is injured in the opening scene, but how isn't explained until later. Three, for a while you may not be able to determine who the wife is. Four, there are many reversals so it may be difficult to determine who is playing who - you may feel like creating a diagram to keep track of who is doing what to whom. The movie would have gotten 4 stars if the ending didn't wrap up so oddly. Except for a dozen trailers, there aren't any movie related extras and the audio is in stereo. The only selectable option is whether English subtitles are on or off. Definitely recommended.

A woman decides to scam her husband by staging her own kidnapping in this film by Hideo Nakata. The storyline is very complex, shifting back and forth thru time as the film progresses. Fortunately, the characters make decisions that are consistent with the numerous plot twists, and the events that unfold during the latter half are very good.
