In this disturbing drama, Michael (Mark D'Auria) is a middle-aged gay man who has a number of fixations which are firmly entrenched in his character, and they are not life-enhancing by any stretch of the imagination. He is particularly attracted to older, overweight, abusive, and at least theoretically heterosexual men. As the story begins, he is in the hospital for injuries he received when his ex-lover punched him in the stomach. He seeks out situations where he is sure to be humiliated, and seems to thrive on them. For instance, he gets a job as a bathroom attendant at a fancy hotel and is treated to a constant diet of abuse and contempt by the hotel's owner. He is fixated on a married policeman and follows him around constantly, despite the poor man's repeated attempts to shoo him away. There seems to be no point to this drama except to illuminate how completely driven this unappealing creature is. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
