Synopsis of Itzhak Perlman: In the Fiddler's House

In the documentary program Itzhak Perlman: In the Fiddler's House, maestro violinist Perlman carries audiences on a 55-minute exploration of klezmer music, as a vital expression of Yiddish culture in several international cities - from the Big Apple to Krakow, Poland. He then discusses at length how klezmer music actually functions as an amalgam of several other Eastern European cultural identities. A number of Jewish guest stars appear and lend support, including character actor Fyvush Finkel (Picket Fences) and the late Red Buttons (Movie, Movie) , and several well-known klezmer bands perform in the program, including Kapelye, The Klezmer Conservatory Band and The Klezmatics. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
