Majel Barrett returns in the role of Lwaxana Troi, who arrives on DS9 in a state of advanced pregnancy. Her delight over the prospect of giving birth is dampened by the admonitions of her Tavnian husband Jeyal (Michael Ansara), who insists that he and he alone will raise their son. Meanwhile, Jake is befriended by the mysterious Onaya (Meg Foster), who takes an inordinate interest in his writing aspirations.
