Steven Spielberg captured our imaginations and awoke in us a primal fear of the deep ocean when he made Jaws. Since then we have been relentless in our pursuit to understand the terror of the deep -- sharks. Search for the Great Sharks plays on this fascination and fear by scouring the oceans for the worlds largest sharks. Director al Wolfe has compiled 51 minutes of some of the most intense footage of sharks every filmed. Originally an IMAX feature, Search for the Greatest Sharks is filmed with the intent to make the viewer feel as if they were the diver pursuing the blue whale and great white sharks that are encountered. With detailed narration by Joseph Campanella, this film is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat as the giant teeth of these testy predators chomp down on their prey. The DVD version of this Slingshot Entertainment release is equipped with Internet links and many other menu options that will enhance the experience. ~ Ed Atkinson, Rovi

I gave this film a chance, even after the poor audio and lack of continuity... after the "radio operator" who probably got turned down at her audition for Baywatch... after the extremely poor editing of shark footage which was clearly staged to the point of stupidity... but I had to draw the line when one of divers left the protection of the shark cage. I think they were trying to add some suspense to this otherwise placid film but it backfired when the only danger they could conjure was the weight of the shark suit pulling the diver toward the ocean floor! Oooooh scary. I had to turn it off at that point. Sorry. I think anyone interested in thrilling shark footage should stick to something with a National Geographic (or equally accredited) label.
