Well the third time's a charm. This is the third attempt to have this review accepted! This DVD is an excellent reference source for anyone who want's to learn about the history of jazz from it's inception to modern day. It is an ambitious work that takes the viewer through all of Jazz's phases from early rag time to modern free style, and highlights the pioneers of each phase - focusing on the African American pioneers. If you want to a decent summary of the vast history of this music genre without having to resort to multiple sources, then this DVD fits the bill. The music clips are worth the price of admission as well.
