I thought this was a good movie the first time I saw it. That was before I read the book entitled "Love They Neighbor: A Story of War," by Peter Maass. After learning more about the civil war and the atrocities committed I was even more impressed with the screenplay of this film. The only disappointing aspect was that there wasn't enough background into why one man would suddenly look at his best friend as an enemy (not this particular character, but in general one man turned againt the people of his best friend). That to me would have made this film even better. Still amazing that the US didn't do more to intervene before these horrible things happened...but that's a comment for a different forum.

This movie is a real sleeper. In a good way I mean as in a great movie not too many know about. It takes you right into the middle of the struggle of a civil strife in then Yugoslavia. Not to spoil the ending but oh the decision the main character must make and the courage to do so. If you place yourself and your family in the middle of this true to life story and live your country being blown apart as you know it and the danger for your loved ones...it really brings it home just what can happen when factions of people feel differently and go their seperate ways via war. Thank god, our civil war is in our past!
