I highly recommend this movie for those that love martial arts action films. This film has a great combination of action, comedy, and has a very thoughtful ending. Michelle Yeoh is great in this film and knows how to crack that bullwhip! Don't go into this movie expecting Indiana Jones there is no treasure to be found here. Go into it like most HK films expectings to see spectacular action sequences.

Crudely made by Hollywood standards, but Magnificent Warriors has a blistering energy level, tons of stunts and fights, juicy character turns, and the gorgeous and charming Michelle Yeoh. Highly recommended for fans of late 80s HK action movies.

There's little inspiration by Indiana Jones here. It's mostly a showcase for Michelle Yeoh and her martial arts prowess. Despite her short hair and bushy eyebrows, you can't help but smile when you see what she was like at 24 years old. She basically has two looks, a calm smile or a serious "I'm going to kick your @#!" scowl. Given that this movie came out in 1987, it's obvious the sound has undergone Dolby Digital 5.1 remastering. Some of the explosions hit pretty low frequencies in the subwoofer. And there are plenty of front to back and side to side surround sound effects during the aerial scenes. Unfortunately, the audio sounded like it was remastered by an amateur because the sounds didn't seem natural. And despite the language choices, everyone is voiced dubbed. As for extras, there's a "Stars' File" feature containing filmographies for Michelle Yeoh and David Chung, a trailer for the movie that is not subtitled and trailers for two other movies. Not recommended.
