Part road movie, part plea for tolerance, CHILDREN OF HANNIBAL is so full of good performances, interesting themes and lots of life with a capital "L," that it's a shame the movie finally sputters out, ending with a titles crawl that includes a bunch of out-takes, yet! Another member mentions the bad subtitles, though, to my eye they seemed perfectly adequate. I have never seen Silvio Orlando give a bad performance, and Diego Abatantuona and Valentina Cervi come through just fine, as usual. But there is something a little too light-weight and fluffy about the whole enterprise, so that, instead of drawing us further into the story, it finally pushes us away. Argentina's "Wild Horses" offered a much deeper, more interesting take on a similar story idea, though without the sexual shenanigans thrown in. It's worth a look for Italian movie fans, but I do wish it worked better.
